Cesar Montano is one of the very few actors na naka-cross over successfully sa pagdi-direct and one of his film outputs as a director was the 1999 action movie Bullet, which he has also co-written and starred in alongside Jay Manalo as his nemesis and Sunshine Cruz as his love interest.

Here, Cesar plays a person with autism character who acquired a special skill in marksmanship. Kahit anong may involved na target, he can hit with precision. At aksidente lang na-discover ang galing niyang umasinta gamit ang baril and from thereon, he was so nicknamed Bullet.

Bullet was able to make good use of his gun skills when he and his young cousin earned the ire of a gang whose misdeeds he captured on film accidentally. And thus, the start of the many explosive scenes in the film.

Cesar must’ve liked being in the director’s chair that in 2001, he directed another action movie, Mananabas, before venturing into his passion project, the 2004 historical drama Panaghoy sa Suba, which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in. This film gave him numerous awards including best director and best actor at the 2005 Gawad Urian.

Interestingly, the time when Cesar was filming Bullet, was an interesting stage in his personal life as he married his leading lady, Sunshine Cruz, the year following (September 2000) its release.

Thus, what the film captured here between Cesar and Sunshine was their real affection at that time.

But three daughters and 13 years after, the marriage soured and Sunshine filed for annulment in 2014, which was granted four years after in September 2018.

Bullet also stars Amy Austria, Rufa Mae Quinto, Rommel Montano, Ina Alegre, Spanky Manikan, Celia Rodriguez, and, would you believe, Eugene Domingo?
