Like many Filipino families, the children of Florencia Filipinas are divided by ambition, principles, and even geography.

Richard, who is his mother’s favorite, has a white-collar job in the US. Dawn plays a caregiver in Israel. Aiko is the self-centered daughter. Victor is a union leader who goes underground. Wendell is a soldier fighting rebels in Mindanao. Sunshine is the family’s adopted daughter.

Maricel, the movie’s narrator, keeps her mother company, helping the family business, cooking and bottling atsara.

In the story, the matriarch of the Filipinas family, is in poor health, and Yolanda (Maricel Soriano), the eldest of the Filipinas children, finds herself in the unenviable position of keeping her bickering family from disintegration. As the tension rises, Yolanda seeks refuge in a local church.

At one point, the matriarch was critically injured trying to break up a nasty fight between brothers Emman (Victor Neri) and Samuel (Richard Gomez), forcing her family to make a life-changing decision.
