Highlights: #VivaVision2020 event

Entertainment giant Viva mounted a gathering, called Viva Vision 2020, to announce its impressive lineup of movies for this year. The event, held at the Monet Ballroom of the Novotel Manila in Quezon City last January 28, also doubled as the company’s thanksgiving to both the entertainment and the business press.

All members of the del Rosario family, headed by the patriarch and Viva topman Mr. Vic del Rosario, Jr. (also fondly called Boss Vic), were present at the event.

Through Viva President and COO Vincent del Rosario, Viva—which gave us 19 films last year including Unforgettable, Just A Stranger, Maria, Ulan, Adan, #Jowable, and Miracle in Cell No. 7 to name a few—announced that Viva is shelling out 1 Billion pesos for 2020 to produce 34 movies!

“As sign of our confidence in Philippine cinema, we are investing 1 billion pesos just for 2020,” said Vincent del Rosario. “Hindi po ito multiple years kundi this year. Ganyan po kami ka-seryoso at excited for 2020.

“And to fulfil this vision, we have gathered the best creative minds in the industry and match them with the biggest stars of the land.” Vincent went on.

“There will also be strategic alliance with both local and global partners to push the envelope in terms of concept and quality.”

One by one, Vincent then presented the video presentations that detailed what the audience can expect from Viva in the coming 11 months. The videos—clustered into categories such as Viva Originals, Viva Reimagined (adaptations), and Viva Original Superheroes—certainly promise an exciting line up of films covering all genres.

There’s a Sharon Cuneta-Regine Velasquez alliance, a part two of 100 Tula Para kay Stella, a Xia Vigor-Janno Gibbs team up, another Anne Curtis provocateur, lots of reimagined global hits, and of course, Pedro Penduko, which will kick start Viva’s original superhero movies. That’s just to name a few.

As one the of the video reels said, Viva, with its Viva Vision 2020 plan, is geared for a “higher, braver, more dynamic, more expansive, more synergized cinematic movement.”

Congratulations!
