Highlights: Paskong Kapuso 2019 “Love Shines” press party

The annual GMA-7 Paskong Kapuso Christmas party for the press took place last Tuesday, December 3, at the Studio 7 of the network’s studio complex in Quezon City.

Dubbed as “Love Shines,” which is also the title of TV station’s Christmas ID song this year, the party was thus themed as “glitter fest,” which was also the main criterion in choosing the male and female star of the night. Meaning, those who wish to bag the recognition needed to wear the most glittery and most christmassy garb. They sort of needed to channel the late Kapuso host, German Moreno, and make him part of the celebration.

As in the years past, The GMA bosses—led by Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon, SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable, VP for Drama Redgie Magno, and VP for Corporate Communications Angel Javier-Cruz—and the GMA PR/promo team prepared lavish feast (complete with tatak-GMA party fare: balut, puto-bungbong, and dirty ice cream) that came with an endless supply of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Coz yes, they know how to party over there.

In his speech, Atty. Gozon jokingly said that despite the typhoon—because the GMA-7 party coincided with Typhoon Tisoy’s arrival—and his old age, he still managed to make it to the party to thank the press people personally for all the help and support they’ve extended the Kapauso network the whole year round.

“Kaya ko pa naman... ibang magmahal ang Kapuso, e.”

The program—funnily hosted by Betong Sumaya (of Bubble Gang), comic Divine Tetay, and Sophie Albert (of The Gift)—was a merry mix of fun parlor games, production numbers from mostly new artists, and the highly anticipated raffles in between.

Performers include: StarStruck Season 7 Winners Kim de Leon and Shayne Sava, One of the Baes star EA Guzman, singers Maricris Garcia and Princess Velasco, and The Clash finds Jong Madaliday, Garrett Bolden, and the girlgroup powerbelters XOXO (Riel Lomadilla, Mel Caluag, Lyra Micolob and Dani Ozaraga).

Joe Barrameda of Abante and Philippine Star’s PM tabloid, bagged the Male Star of the Night, while veteran movie writer Erlinda Rapadas of Bulgar was hailed the Female Star of the Night.
