Last January 9 marked the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene, the centuries-old image depicting Jesus on his way to his crucifixion. The figure, which came to the Philippines in 1606 and is said to have miraculous powers, counts several celebrities among its hundreds of thousands of devotees.
One of these celebrities is Hashtags member and Sakaling Maging Tayo star McCoy de Leon, whose strong devotion brought him all the way to the Traslacion in Manila, where he braved the crowds just to touch the revered figure.
On Instagram, McCoy posted a photo of his feet, dirtied from the religious procession.
The actor/dancer also thanked members of the Kawal del Nazareno who helped him touch the figure of Jesus.
McCoy also shared that he got his devotion to the Black Nazarene from his dad, who has long been a believer in the image of Jesus.
Although McCoy was not with his father at the procession, he specifically thought of him as he touched the Black Nazarene.
“Salamat Daddy dahil ikaw ang nagpasimula sa akin nito,” McCoy said.
