Present at the event— aptly called Viva Vision 2020—ang buong del Rosario family, headed by Viva top man and del Rosario patriarch Vic del Rosario, Jr. (second from left) na mas kilala sa tawag na Boss Vic. With him are his competent Viva co-runners (L-R) Veronique del Rosario-Corpus (President & COO of Viva Artists Agency), Valerie del Rosario (SVP for Content Creation & Development), and Vincent del Rosario (President and COO of Viva Communications, Inc.), whom Boss Vic calls as the Captain of the ship.

Last January 28, inipon ng entertainment giant Viva and entertainment and business writers sa Novotel Manila sa Quezon City, para ihayag ang impressive line-up ng mga pelikulang ihahain nila sa publiko sa buong taong 2020.

Of course, present sa event— aptly called Viva Vision 2020ang buong del Rosario family, headed by Viva top man and del Rosario patriarch Vic del Rosario, Jr. na mas kilala sa tawag na Boss Vic; pati na rin ang mga heads ng iba’t ibang departamento ng Viva gaya ni Miss June Torrejon, ang supervising producer ng lahat ng Viva movies.

It was also well attended by Viva’s roster of film talents both from on and off-cam gaya nina Bela Padilla, Alex de Rossi, Janno Gibbs, Xian Lim, Ryza Cenon, Yassi Pressman, Yam Concepcion, Jerald Napoles, Gab Lagman, Andre Paras, Marco Gallo, Xia Vigor; and directors Joel Lamangan, Jason Paul Laxamana, Nuel Naval, at iba.

Viva President and COO Vincent del Rosario was tasked to present the projects. Pero bago yon ay nagpasalamat muna siya, in behalf of Viva and the whole del Rosario family, sa mga dumalong mediamen that day.

“We say partners kasi all these years—for 39 years—nand’yan ho kayo para tulungan ang Viva.

Just A Stranger, Maria, Adan, Mañanita; Sanggano, Sanggo’t, Sanggwapo, #Jowable; The Mall, The Merrier; at and Miracle in Cell No. 7.

Sa kanyang mini speech, sinabi ni Vincent na naka-labingsiyam na pelikula in all ang Viva last 2019 na nagpapatunay that Viva produced the most number of movies last year than any other local film company.

“Through these 19 films, we offered our audience a diversity of choices,” Vincent went on.

It was indeed a miraculous year for us. Obviously, happy kami kung pa’no nagtapos ’yong 2019,” banggit ni Vincent na ang tinutukoy ay ang pagta-topgrosser ng Miracle in Cell No.7 sa Metro Manila Film Festival last December. At dahil showing pa rin sa maraming sinehan up to now, Miracle has already grossed more 500M locally as of press time.

Viva Vision 2020 event was well attended by Viva’s roster of film talents both on and off-cam gaya nina Bela Padilla, Alex de Rossi, Janno Gibbs, Xian Lim, Ryza Cenon, Yassi Pressman, Yam Concepcion, Jerald Napoles, Candy Pangilinan, Gab Lagman, Andre Paras, Marco Gallo, Xia Vigor; and directors Joel Lamangan, Al Tantay, Jason Paul Laxamana, Nuel Naval, at iba.

“We’re doing 34 movies this year. In fact, may iba nga na tapos na.

“As sign of our confidence in Philippine cinema, we are investing 1 billion pesos just for 2020. Hindi po ito multiple years kundi this year.”

Ganyan po kami ka-seryoso at excited for 2020,” dagdag niya. “And to fulfill this vision we have gathered the best creative minds in the industry and match them with the biggest and brightest stars of the land.

“There will also be strategic alliance with both local and global partners to push the envelope in terms of concept and quality.”

“We decided to seek out the best available stories globally and adapt them with that added Filipino flavor,” patuloy ni Vincent. “Sinampolan po namin si Miss Granny noong 2018 at itong Christmas lang nilabas namin ang Miracle in Cell No. 7 sa MMFF.

“With the unprecedented success of both movies, grossing a combined 700 million pesos to date, we have decided to up the ante and produce more reimagined movies from all over the world.”

Next in line na dito ang Love the Way You Lie ni Xian Lim ulit at Alex Gonzaga.
Ilan pa sa nakapila are the following: The Devoted ni Anne Curtis; ang Ultimate Oppa ni Bela with Korean actor Kim Gun Woo; ang AlEmpoy (Alex de Rossi-Empoy Marquez) reunion na Walang Ka-Paris; ang part 2 ng 100 Tula Para kay Stella; ang You F Oh! that will star Christian Bables; at ang thriller na The Other Wife that will star Ryza Cenon, Kit Thompson, and Rhen Escano.
Sa adaptations (more aptly called reimagined) naman, na mostly ay Korean movies, naka-lineup ang Gong Yoo hit na A Man and A Woman na pagbibidahan locally ni Aga Muhlach. Then, there’s the romcom Spellbound (Bela Padilla and Marco Gumabao) at ang hit ding More Than Blue (Yassi Pressman, Arjo Atayde, and JC Santos).
Alex de Rossi and Bela Padilla will battle acting wits in The Wedding Breaker; habang magbibigay naman ng riot comedy sina Janno Gibbs at Xia Vigor sa Pinoy adaptation of a Mexican hit na Instructions Not Included.

Ani Vincent: “Kung may Marvel (Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America) at DC (Superman, Batman, Wonder Womansa America, s’yempre hindi p’wedeng mawala ang Filipino-made superheroes...superheroes that we can relate to, superheroes that we grew up with, and superheroes that champion Filipino values.

“These superheroes were created by two of the most iconic storytellers of our time: National Artist Francisco V. Coching and the legendary king of Pinoy comics Carlo J. Caparas.”

Gaya ng sabi sa isa mga video presentations that day, Viva is geared up to deliver its promise of a “higher, braver, more dynamic, more expansive, more synergized cinematic movement” sa kanilang Viva Vision 2020 master plan.

And with all these, Viva people can definitely claim: “Iba pag Viva!”
