During the final battle to determine the final two participants of the Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finals, Vice Ganda was about to announce the winner between finalists Rafaello Cañedo and Jonas Oñate on today’s earlier episode of It’s Showtime, September 27.
The comedian then announced Cañedo as the person who will advance the grand finals, which will happen tomorrow, September 28, but quickly apologized and cleared the mistake that happened.
“So, ang nakalagay sa binasa ko, uulitin ko, kasi ako kay sumusunod lang sa binabasa ko,” he said on-air. “Ang 7th placer ay si Rafaello Cañedo ng Mindanao, nangangahulugan na si Jonas Oñate ang pasok sa Top 6.”
Vice then reiterated for clarification that Cañedo is, indeed, the 7th placer, meaning that he will not enter the grand finals as a result.
After the show, Vice clarified on Twitter that it was not his mistake, that he was only reading the prompter. Yet, he still apologized for what happened.
I was just reading the prompter. Not my mistake. Sorry still. #TNT3HulingTapatanDay5

He also tweeted what happened during the entire situation, that the prompter told him to announce the 7th and 8th placer but the envelope on his hands had the names of those who will complete the top 6.
“So ayun na steve harvey ako,” Vice concluded.
The prompter says announce 7’th and 8’th placer pero ang inabot sakin na envelope has the names of the contestants na pasok sa top 6. So ayun na steve harvey ako.

Cañedo then tweeted after the show, saying that he respected the results and said Oñate really deserved the victory.
“[H]appy na nga ako na nakaabot ako dito. Its not the end guys, in fact, its the start of my new journey that God has planned for me. TY guys #TNT3HulingTapatanDay5” he said.
