Men’s fashion has evolved, and we’re glad for it. Gone are the days when gents could only wear black suits to formal events. These days, they have a wide range of options when it comes to color and material, as designers come up with more and more innovations in menswear. Here are nine guys who chose out-of-the-box suits at the ABS-CBN Ball:
Bespoke menswear maker Suit It Up Manila elevated the formal dinner jacket for Arjo Atayde. The actor’s red brocade jacket with shawl lapel reminded netizens of a circus ringmaster’s coat ala Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman.
If anyone could look dashing in a blue houndstooth suit jacket, it would be Daniel Matsunaga. The actor and model made the red carpet his runway as he walked up in his Francis Libiran tuxedo.
JC de Vera
Renowned designer Paul Cabral outfitted JC de Vera in an emerald green suit and bohemian-patterned tie reminiscent of the seventies.
Khalil Ramos’s look was a nod to the retro era, what with his patterned suit and circular rose-tinted glasses. The indie actor’s suit is also from Francis Libiran.
Actor Sam Concepcion sparkled at the red carpet in Neric Beltran. Adding even more flair to the actor’s look are the bows on his wrists and neck.
Iñigo PascualWhen white is too plain, why not go with speckled? Iñigo Pascual’s subtly-colored suit was edgy without calling too much attention. Stylist Ton Lao accessorized the young singer’s look with matching holster bags and statement sneakers.
James Reid’s dotted jacket from Bang Pineda is daring on its own, but he took it straight to rebellious (and sexy) territory with a leather harness from Wolfe+Huntr.
Xian Lim Xian Lim matched his date Kim Chiu perfectly in a patterned grey and blue suit from Francis Libiran. Black pants keep the ensemble from looking too busy while also highlighting the interesting jacket.
Jericho Rosales’s suit from Ziggy Savella is proof that a simple color change can set you apart from the rest. Real men wear pink, after all.
