Too much political correctness is bullshit in cinemas.”

“Actors and artists are there to actually convey the story. It’s a reflection of reality but what you will see in the film is not exactly reality itself.”

“Actors and artists are there to actually convey the story. It’s a reflection of reality but what you will see in the film is not exactly reality itself.”

Pero according sa matapang na director ng Gluta: “Sorry for the term, but I think too much political correctness is bullshit in cinemas. If I’m going to cast a real Aeta, I think that will also hinder us to share the purest communication of a movie and it’s separation from reality.

“Actors and artists are there to actually convey the story. It’s a reflection of reality but what you will see in the film is not exactly reality itself.”

Ano, acting workshop to the max muna samantalang may excellent actors naman na p’wedeng gumanap?

And as Direk Darryl puts it, it’s because she’s an “exceptional” actress. And we agree. She’s not a Cinemalaya best supporting actress for nothing.

“If people will say that I’m problematic because of making Ella a darker person just to convey a story, it’s their opinion but I don’t accept that as a fact.

“And Ella, more than the skin, is very similar to the hearts of her Aeta friends. Ella landed the role because Ella is very exceptional.”

“Let me assure you that the representation is very careful, very sensitive, to the point that I have consultants and I have organizations backing the film,” pagtatapos niya.

Gluta, which also stars Marco Gallo, Arlene Muhlach, Rose Van Ginkel, Juliana Parizcova Segovia, Jobelyn Manuel, and Loren Montemayor Mariñas, will begin streaming on Vivamax on July 2.
