One of the Philippines’ most popular and accomplished OPM bands has returned to Viva.

True Faith, the pop-rock band who popularized the songs Dedma, Perfect, and Sumasarap ang Gising inked their contracts for Viva Records today, August 8, at the Viva Main Office.

The band, who became a hit in the 1990s, sat down with Viva Chairman of the Board Vic Del Rosario, Jr. and Executive Vice President for Music Group Verb del Rosario at the boardroom to re-solidify the band’s affiliation with the mainstream music label.

During the signing, the members of True Faith sat down with pikapika.ph to talk about how the entire deal came about which started when Boss Vic del Rosario, Jr. saw lead vocalist Medwin “Meds” Marfil perform on the Playlist: Best of OPM concert last March 2019.

“I remember seeing Boss Vic there, and they had a great time, I’m pretty sure of that.” Meds said. “So, shortly thereafter, a few weeks after, I got a call that [Viva] is interested, initially, in getting me as a songwriter for artists here.”

However, minutes during the call, Viva executives had an even better idea, telling Meds that they want to sign the entire members of True Faith and make a new album.

Para sa akin, I’m happier na ’yong prospect na the whole band will be with Viva, not only me.” Meds said.

And now that the band is back with Viva after four years, they have plans of making a new album and having live concerts in mind.

“So, we’re gonna work on the songs. Definitely, new songs,” Meds announced. “Actually, we have a couple that we could already give to Viva. Hopefully, by years end, the album is ready for release,”

When it comes to other plans under their new contracts with Viva, True Faith plans to re-release their album Love Parade which they put out with Viva last 2010. They also hope to collaborate with Sarah Geronimo, who Meds wrote an Awit award-winning song called Ikaw.

Other band members like keyboardist Jake Lumacad and acoustic guitarist-vocalist Eugene Marfil all feel elated to be back under Viva Records and remains hopeful for future projects.

“I’m excited,” Jake said. “I’m looking forward sa mga future projects at ’yong mga collaborations. Sana may matuloy na Viva Artist na ma-collaborate namin.”

“Viva is one of the biggest brands out there,” Eugene explains. “We’re just really excited and really happy to be working with number one. Hopefully, we’ll be number one, as well. Cheers!”

Allan Elgar, who was part of a different Viva group back in 2010, felt good to be back, as well and looks forward to doing projects in other formats.

“There’s always a lot of opportunities here, so thank you for having us!” Allan exclaims.

Drummer Kaka Quisumbing and bassist Macky Macaventa are first-timers in the Viva world and are looking forward to what’s to come for them under the label.

“Looking forward sa mga mangyayari,” Kaka said. “New songs and, hopefully, live concerts.”

“It must be my lucky first time because it’s my first time to sign with Viva and everyone knows how big Viva is,” Macky said. “I feel pretty honored and excited to be part of this group.”

With True Faith marking this new phase in their lives, who knows what plans they are going to cook up next? And it’s keeping us at the edge of our seats!
