Pageant enthusiasts’ favorite Michele Gumabao, who took home the 2nd Runner-up award at the recently concluded Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) 2020 said that she is now closing her doors on pageantry.
The 28-year-old volleyball player-turned-beauty queen told the media earlier today, October 29, during her visit at the E.Eskwela hub at the Manila Child Center in Sampaloc, Manila that she will no longer join beauty contests in the future.
"Unfortunately po, because of my age, there will be no more beauty pageants for me," Michele, who was with other MUP winners at the event, told the media.
Michele was referring to the age requirement of the international pageant organizations that a representative must be from 18 to 27 or at least 28 years old before any international competitions start.
Moreover, Gumabao, a marketing management graduate from De La Salle University, shared that she will be focusing on her businesses and on a possible new career.
"This is the beginning of an even brighter journey because I have different businesses that I would like to bring into the Philippines and now I have the time to be able to do so. I have also another career that I am eyeing for.
"Of course, now is not the perfect time to share about that but in God's time, I'll reveal everything," she added.
From being a volleyball superstar and TV personality, Michele entered the world of pageantry by joining Binibining Pilipinas in 2018.
There, she won Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2018 title and eventually represented the country in Albania where she bagged the Miss Social Media and Dream Girl awards and ended up as one of the Top 15 finalists.
