Mark Bautista is ready to celebrate 21 years in the showbiz industry with an anniversary concert titled “Mark My Dreams” where he hopes to leave inspiration to concertgoers and supporters who will be there to cheer him on.

Having reached new heights in his singing career, his milestones include being hailed as 1st runner-up to Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo in the reality singing competition Star for a Night back in 2003, peaking song charts, releasing iconic singles and albums, and performing in film, television, and theater, making him a household name in the local entertainment industry.

“I just want people to be inspired after watching the show. I think ’yon ’yong basic na gusto kong maparating sa audience kasi everything started with a dream and sana ma-inspire sila sa naging journey ko kung mapanood nila—from how I started to now to ano ’yong future na gusto ko pa gawin,” the Pop Heartthrob told members of the press during the media conference for his concert last Tuesday, July 30.

Mark remains hopeful that his supporters would be inspired by every step of his showbiz journey, from humbly starting out in singing contests in Cagayan De Oro to being the multi-talented star that he is now.

“Sana ma-inspire sila sa story ko from my humble beginnings in Cagayan De Oro na talagang walang kaalam-alam and paano ko na-survive ang show business after 20 years,” he said.

With talks of being an inspiration in the fray, Mark was asked about advice he would impart to young and aspiring singers who want to enter show business.

The singer said of his belief that there should always be a sense of companionship when it comes to entering showbiz.

“I think ’yong sinasabi nilang makisama ka sa mga katrabaho mo, totoo ’yon,” he said. “Kung iisipin mo, wala naman talagang sikreto kung paano mag-stay dito sa show business. That’s what I feel. Kailangan talaga, personally, dapat nasasaiyo ’yon na naturally marunong ka makisama.”

However, Mark believes mere companionship is not enough to last in showbiz, saying that one should be passionate enough with what they are doing in order to stay.

“Hindi kasi pwedeng pilitin, eh. Hindi kasi pwedeng ‘Ah eto ’yong magwo-work, eto ’yong gagawin ko.’ Kung ayaw mo rin kasi, kung hindi mo passion, hindi ka passionate, kahit anong gagawin mo, mabu-burn out ka talaga. Kulang ’yong makikisama ka lang kasi pwede ka namang makisama pero paano kung wala kang passion at hindi mo gusto ang ginagawa mo?” he said.

Moreover, Mark added that being realistic and having a nice sense of balance would be key in having a long-lasting career in showbiz.

“Dapat alam mo kung ano ’yong tama para sa’yo at pati naman ’yong hindi naman para sa’yo, huwag mo nang pilitin,” he said.

“Mark My Dreams” will take place on August 31 at The Theatre in Solaire in Parañaque. Apart from Mark, special guest performers will also be making an appearance, namely Jona, Katrina Velarde, Rob Deniel, Arthur Nery, and Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. The concert will be directed by GB Sampedro.
