“Why us actors here in the Philippines have to be so...I don’t know if you guys know what I’m talking about... but you guys...us...we’re so scared in going to the set because of the reputation of the director.”

“Why us actors here in the Philippines have to be so...I don’t know if you guys know what I’m talking about... but you guys...us...we’re so scared in going to the set because of the reputation of the director.”

Filipino-American actor Marco Gallo certainly wears his heart on his sleeve. No-filter, kumbaga. There, he is playing as the suitor of Ella Cruz’s character na si Angel, isang Aeta lass dreaming of becoming a beauty queen kahit alam niyang maraming magtataas ng kilay.

First-time na naka-trabaho ni Marco ang prolific Viva contract director kaya naman natanong siya how it was working with him.

“This was my first project with Direk Darryl and I really didn’t know him. Of course, apart from the fact that he’s pulled off so many movies that were successful,” panimulang k’wento ni Marco.

“I was there for fewer days than Ella..I was, you know, I had fewer scenes.

“I just have to say... I really hope, if any director is watching this, but all I’m trying to say is, I hope more directors try to...not copy him, but like look at his work ethic. On the set, it’s very light. There’s no expectation of keeping it up with the director, keeping it up with the veterans... it’s pantay-pantay. I love the fact of how light it is.”

“I’m tired of every time being scared of going to the set and, ‘Uy, kilala mo ba ’yong director?’ ‘No, I don’t know that director.’

“Why us actors here in the Philippines have to be so...I don’t know if you guys know what I’m talking about... but you guys...us...we’re so scared in going to the set because of the reputation of the director.”

Ang point niya is, mas magandang magtrabaho with and not for or against sa iyong direktor. Wala umanong nagiging animosity or fear.

“I love the fact how I’m able to work with Direk [Darryl] rather against him or for him. So, working with him was definitely a beautiful experience. And I really hope the future directors will learn or adjust with the actors, too, because that’s how you do a project such as Gluta... that it came out really good because Direk and the cast work together rather than against each other.”

Ang Gluta opens on steaming services ktx.ph, iWantTFC and of course, Vivamax on July 2.

Kasama rin dito sina Arlene Muhlach, Rose van Ginkel, Juliana Parizcova Segovia, and Vincentiments talents Jobelyn Manuel and Loren Mariñas.
