Ivy Aguas and Lily Cruz keep on shining!
Maja Salvador won as Best Actress at the first Asian Contents Award, held at Busan, South Korea, for her portrayal of the iconic television characters in the 2017 revenge drama Wildflower.
Accompanying Maja to the event was her beau Rambo Nuñez, Wildflower production manager Maru Benitez, and Wildflower director Raymond Ocampo.
In her acceptance speech, Maja said that playing Ivy Aguas and Lily Cruz was both a challenge and a pleasure for her to give life on screen.
“To paint an honest picture of what she went through, knowing that viewers empathize, cheer, and, from time to time, hate her for her choices,” she added. “It was an honor to be trusted with this role by our network, ABS-CBN.”
She also thanked the entire team who made Wildflower possible, including business unit head Ruel S. Bayani, directors Ocampo and Cathy Camarillo, production manager Benitez, and the writers.
“I share this recognition to all of my brilliant colleagues in the show,” she went on. “Most specially to the veteran genius, Mr. Tirso Cruz III, who upped my game and encouraged me when I thought I had nothing more to give.”
Salvador posted another message of thanks for the award, thanking the Wildflower team and her supporters who made it all possible. Her celebrity colleagues including the likes of Arci Muñoz, Sunshine Cruz, and Angel Locsin all congratulated her for the triumph.
Apart from the Asian Content Awards, the award-giving body of the Asian Academy Creative Awards gave Maja the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role back in 2018.
Wildflower, a television series aired by ABS-CBN from February 2017 to February 2018, follows Lily Cruz, a young woman who takes revenge on the Ardientes, a powerful brood in Poblacion Ardiente, for murdering members of her family. Later, she resurfaces as Ivy Aguas to avenge them.
