Liza Soberano is hoping to meet the new Darna, Jane De Leon, in person.

As the “former Darna” herself, Liza Soberano opened up about her thoughts on Jane De Leon being the new Darna and asked her for a dinner date.

It can be recalled that Liza was forced to withdraw in the supposed 2020 movie because of her index finger injury. She spent a couple of months in America to tend to the said injury which required her to undergo several surgeries.

And finally the actress recently announced that she already had it successfully fixed and it will take a year for her finger to completely recover.

On the recent YouTube vlog entry of her manager Ogie Diaz, Liza revealed that she immediately message Jane after being chosen as the next artista to portray Darna.

She said, “I’m really happy for her kasi I messaged her tapos nag-message siya agad sa akin sobrang thankful siya and nagulat daw siya na nag-message akoiniisip ko bakit siya magugulat na nag-message ako. I wanted to welcome her din naman and I want her to feel na deserving talaga siya sa role.”

Her manager also asked her if Jane fits the role, Liza was quick to respond, “Yes! sabi ko nga kay ate Onie no’ng nakita ko talaga ’yong face niya sabi ko ‘oh my gosh muka siyang superhero’...may ganun eh like when you see Gal Gadot, kasi no’ng si Gal Gadot lumabas siya as Wonder Woman hindi naman nila in-announce bago nila gawin ’yong movie...parang nakita na lang natin ’yong trailer. And when you see that person parang you know that he or she is meant to be a superhero.”

She added, “No’ng nakita ko si Jane ’yon ’yong naramdaman ko. Sabi ko ‘oh my gosh she’s meant to be a superhero!’ Tapos ’yong muka niya maganda talaga siya parang innocent pero may sense of strength.”

The 21-year-old Kapamilya artist also revealed that she invited Jane for a dinner date so she can give her comfort and ease the pressure that she might be feeling upon accepting the role.

“Yeah, I ask her for a dinner kung available siya kasi I’m sure busy na siya sa training and workshops kasi when I was still doing that sobrang busy ko sa training and workshop so I’m sure siya din.”

Liza’s hoping Jane would find time to meet her. “Sana magkaroon siya ng time because I also want to meet her in person and gusto ko lang siya i-comfort because I know it’s really hard. Sobrang pressure ’yon para sa kanya especially kasi bago siya so she probably doesn’t know how it works yet.”

Liza, however, was also quick to clarify that their possible future date will not be about her giving tips on how to play the superheroine role.

“Actually I don’t really think na bibigyan ko siya ng tips or ideas about who Darna is kasi I feel like Darna is who you think she is…” Liza explained. “Parang ako, ganito ’yong tingin ko kay Darna siya iba ’yong opinion or sa tingin niya sino si Darna. It really depends on how you take the story.”

She went on: “Hindi ko din alam kung ganon pa din ’yong story na gagawin kung nag-iba ba kasi iba na din ’yong director. So I think that’s really up to her kasi I want her to have the freedom. Ayoko siya mag-isip na ‘Sabi ni Liza ganito ganyan’ No…I know that she’s talented na magkakaroon siya ng own take on it kasi it’s her eh...Siya na ang Darna so she has to incorporate Darna with herself.”

After receiving a welcome home party arranged by her family and friends last July 22, Liza said that she is now busy preparing for her next projects such as another teleserye with her boyfriend Enrique Gil and a rom-com film, which she cannot reveal much details yet.
