The Indonesian remake of the 2017 Filipino blockbuster Kita Kita had its premiere night last night, October 8, at Cinema XXI Epicentrum in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
Present during the premiere night of Cinta Itu Buta (Love Is Blind) were the stars of the film Shandy Aulia and Dodit Mulyanto, director Rachmania Arunita, producers, and the writer-director of the original Filipino romantic-drama film Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo
Bernardo took to Instagram to express her excitement to watch the remake during its press conference where she got to meet director Arunita and star Mulyanto, along with the producers of the film.
Earlier that night, the Kita Kita writer-director then posted a picture of herself attending the premiere night, while writing as caption her experience while watching a remake of her own film.
“It was an overwhelming experience to watch a remake/adaptation of your own film. I was holding back my tears all through out the movie,” she wrote. “As I continued to watch “Cinta Itu Buta” (Love is blind), I became one of the audience and forgot that this was a remake. I was transported to the sweet story of Diah and Nik.
She also thanked director Arunita for adding her own flavor to her original work and the cast and crew for choosing Kita-Kita as an adaptation.
“Team @cintaitubutaofficial I wish you all the best and success to your film! Claim it! Team Kita Kita, what else can I say but thank you and congratulations to all of us! I will always be grateful for this. Terima Kasih from the ♥️ of the 🍌” she ended.
It was back on September 15 when Bernardo posted on Instagram that Kita Kita will get its own Indonesian remake, which was shot in Busan, South Korea.
The original Filipino film, a co-production between Viva Films and Spring Films, is the highest-grossing Filipino independent film to date, reaching P320 million in box office sales.
Cinta Itu Buta (Love Is Blind) will premiere in Indonesian theaters on October 10, 2019. Watch the full trailer below!
