ABS-CBN actress Kim Chiu continues to be an unstoppable force in the virtual world after she released her full version of "Bawal Lumabas.”
The song was based on the actress' statement during the online show Laban Kapamilya last May 8, where she received massive bashing and harsh criticism from the netizens for her "inchoherent analogy" of classroom law and the cease and desist order by the National Telecommunication Commission to ABS-CBN.
During the online show she said: "Sa classroom may batas, bawal lumabas, oh bawal lumabas. Pero ‘pag sinabi, ‘pag nag-comply ka na bawal na lumabas pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo ‘yong law ng classroom niyo at sinumbit mo ulit ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas.”
Even Kim herself admitted later on in her social media post that she could not understand her own statement. She also asked for forgiveness for her confusing statement and explained that her now-viral ill-constructed "classroom law" statement was due to her heavy emotion at that time.
Hahaha nagising ako na trending na pala ako! Okay po. Hahah natawa nalang ako sa sinabi kong about classroom. Nadala lang ng emosyon. Sensya na.— kim chiu (@prinsesachinita) May 9, 2020
The Kapamilya star's statement went viral immediately; with some even turning her and her statement into memes. Other netizens, however, with obviously alot of time in their hands, turned her statement into songs by adding upbeat music to it. While some may have done it for fun, it’s quite obvious that some were created to further humiliate the Cebuana actress.
The song idea had since mutated into different versions and remixes since.
Kim admitted that she took a social media detox following the harsh online criticisms that she’s been receiving.
But songwriter Adrian Crisanto’s open letter to Kim last May 14, encouraged the Love Thy Woman lead star to keep standing tall amid the online bashing. The lenghty letter also admonished Kim to keep owning the “Bawal Lumabas” statement by making her own full version of the statement-song.
The Pinoy Big Brother grand winner heeded Adrian’s advise. She immediately collaborated with DJ Squammy for the beat and music arragement. And that’s how the "Bawal Lumabas" full version was born.
In her newest YouTube vlog entry, the Cebuana actress, before presenting the product of her collaboration with Adrian and DJ Squammy, first explained how she’s still choosing the positivity route in this situation.
"Ang mga problema sa buhay, 'yan lang 'yong mga example na magpapatatag sa character natin bilang tao," Kim said. "Kasi s'yempre dito sa mundo ang daming temptations, ang daming taong makakasakit sa'yo pero [they] will teach you how to grow, how to be yourself. S'yempre 'yon lang 'yong magtuturo satn ng mga bagay na hindi natuturo ng ibang tao sa'tin."
Kim also thanked Adrian and DJ Squammy, her new-found friends, for their support.
This is a classic example of the “if -you-can’t-beat-‘em-join-‘em” adage. But in this case, Kim joining them is Kim beating them.
