Phenomenal singer Katrina Velarde share her thoughts about people insisting that she is next in line to be the next Regine Velasquez.

Based on her past interviews, Katrina was very vocal about Regine as one of her ultimate idols in the music industry. That’s why the singer always feels honored whenever the people say that her singing ability and style mirror that of the Asia’s Songbird.

Despite feeling honored and blessed, Katrina still believes that Regine’s accomplishments and reputation are way beyond her reach.

“Sampung hakbang na po ang narating ng ating Songbird, wala pa po ako sa one step na ’yon.” Katrina admitted during the recent press conference for her second solo concert SiKati2!

Thus, instead of letting the comparisons and expectations pressure her, she draws inspiration for those instead so she can continuously improve on her craft. “Ganoon ko po hinaharap ‘yon para mas galingan ko pa.”

She added: “Kasi sa dami din pong magagaling na singers ngayon. Parang competition na po, parang lagi ka ma-co-compare, kahit sa tingin mo nagawa mo yong best mo, may masasabi at masasabi pa din [sila].

“Lagi ko na lang po inilalagay sa isip ko na, nandyan lang sila na magcocompare, so okay lang. Sanay na din po ako.”

Regine was her surprise guest during her first concert held earlier this year. And now that her second concert is getting near, we can’t wait who will surprise her this time around!
