Anne Curtis is on cloud nine after the unveiling of her wax figure for Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, saying how it is an honor to be chosen as the first Filipina actress and television host to be immortalized and displayed into the well-known wax museum.
“I’m just so happy and honored and I’m so excited to see how everyone will react when they see that actual wax figure,” she said during the unveiling last Wednesday, November 27. “We made sure that it stays true to who I am.”
Anne also said the creative process behind the wax figure differs from what she has done in fantasy teleseryes, as the latter also requires her to stay still for hours to apply make-up and prosthetics.
“It turned out to be two hours of posing, smiling, and then it was done. And a year later, here we are!” she said. “It was a regular day in the job.”
During the event, Anne took time to shower the Madame Tussauds team with praise for their hard work towards the making of her waxing figure.
“The whole team of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, they are so professional,” she said. “The craftsmanship behind it was so precise. If you see [it], it’s so scary!”
Anne recalled how she was approached by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, saying she was already in the country at the time with her fellow It’s Showtime hosts.
“We were going through a unique experience at that time so we decided to have some time off, and we were in Hong Kong celebrating. At that time, I got that message so I felt like the stars aligned,” she said.
Anne also recounted the running joke of OFWs missing her birthday, which began after a 2017 clip of her in It’s Showtime, where she mistakenly thought Vice Ganda said OFWs would miss her birthday while away from the Philippines, resurfaced online.
“I know it’s been a long-time running joke na umuuwi ang ating kababayan tuwing birthday ko, I know. Ngayon, you don’t have to worry about coming home for my birthday because you can visit me in Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong,” she joked.
In an exclusive interview with pikapika.ph, Anne recalled her initial reaction when Madame Tussauds contacted her, saying she was surprised about the milestone.
“I didn’t believe it was happening,” she said. “The stars have really aligned and I guess it’s meant to be and I was super excited. I had yet to discover the whole process of how this is going to happen but it was definitely worth the wait.”
When asked what having a wax figure from Madame Tussauds means for her, especially at the height of her career, Anne hopes that the milestone will serve as an inspiration to every person who is pursuant of their dreams.
“I hope that through this wax figure, I’m able to inspire others to keep on pursuing their dreams, to keep on working hard, having patience to make them happy because if you work hard, it will come true,” she said.
After she became the first Filipino actress and television host to be immortalized in Madame Tussauds, Anne hopes to see more Philippine celebrities and personalities at the iconic wax museum like Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Sarah Geromino, Vice Ganda, Kathryn Bernardo, and Carlos Yulo.
Anne’s wax figure will officially be on display at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong this December 9.
Congratulations on this milestone, Anne!
