Mag-aamang Mikhail, Nikolas, at Raymond Red pala ang nagtuwang para buuin ang Heaven Peralejo horror starrer na Lilim, which is slated for this year’s release. That’s according to American magazine Variety, which content is devoted to film and filmmakers worldwide.

Ka-swerte naman ni Heaven dahil naka-trabaho niya ang award-winning na mag-aama. Si Direk Mikhail bilang director, habang ang Palme d’Or awardee (for Anino) naman na si Sir Raymond ang nag-cinematographer para sa kanyang anak. Deleter and Dead Kids writer Nikolas, for his part, came in as the scriptwriter.

First time nag-collab ng mag-aama kaya talagang kaabang-abang ang kanilang first output together. Turbulent 70’s and 80’s Philippines daw ang setting ng Lilim at iikot ang istorya sa mag-ate na naghanap ng asylum after a horrendous journey. Akala nila, safe sila sa nasilungang orphanage house only to find out na may cult practices na nagaganap sa loob nito.

It’s Direk Mikhail’s return to the horror genre following the box-office success of his techno thriller Deleter (2022) and the still unshown Nokturno (both headlined by Nadine Lustre).

Meanwhile, Lilim is Heaven’s first foray into the horror genre, although nakapag-mystery thriller na siya via Nananahimik ang Gabi (2022), kung saan nanalo siyang best actress sa 39th Luna Awards.

Here, she co-stars with Direk Mikhail’s favorite actors Mon Confiado and Eula Valdes, as well as Ryza Cenon na nag-trending kamakailan dahil sa kanyang pagpapakalbo para sa role niyang madre dito sa Lilim. Also playing a very crucial role is newbie child actor Skywalker David.

“I wanted to make a film about a hidden society sheltering from the encroaching oppression of the times, only to collapse and fall victim to their own beliefs, a society shackled by fear and by fanaticism, mirroring the very world it tries to escape,” saad ni Direk Mikhail sa Variety.

“It is also my first horror film seen through the eyes of children. Lilim is a bigger and more ambitious production compared to Deleter and Nokturno, with more complex sequences, perspectives and characters, production was quite challenging for us being a period set film.”
