At natupad naman niya dahil she was already crowned as the Miss Eco International in 2018 at ang pageant ay ginanap sa Cairo, Egypt.
“Actually, my mom wanted me to be a beauty queen,” kwento sa amin ng 24-year-old na si Thia. “My mother pushed me. I was into sports, I was a sprinter...I also was an archery player and then when I was 16 [years old], my mom wanted me to stop. And then she signed me up for a pageant in the province and parang ako naman, ‘sige.’ Join nalang ako.”
Thia, who trained under Rodgil Flores of the Kagandahang Flores Camp, says being an artista is not really in her bucket list. But she’s also not one to pass on opportunities. Thus, she decided to say yes to an offer for a go-see of sort at the GMA Artist Center.
“It’s not naman it was one of my dreams but I always believe na when the opportunity is there, get it. Kasi not everyone has the opportunity to get the things that you have...so, I went to Artist Center, I had an interview, then they called me, then I signed a contract. And then I did workshops. Actually natuwa ako, I’m having fun, and I’m open to all the challenges that I’m gonna be facing.”
When she auditioned for The Gift, kinalimutan daw niya agad ang tungkol dito.
“So, I had difficulties in adjusting and pulling myself out of the darkness,” name-misty-eyed na recall pa ni Thia. “Sabi ko, ‘I don’t want any hard feelings right now.”
“It pulled me out and it gave me more motivation and determination to be bettrer as a person.”
Kaya naman tinawag niya ang The Gift as “gift of my life.”
“Ive been training months and years for this,” esplika niya about her training for pagents. “I started when I was sixteen so basically nasa system ko na siya, maging beauty queen...acting naman, I think, minsan may awkward...I’m trying to find a word that best describes what I’m trying to say...parang di ba, you need to pull out your emotions to express that emotion? Hindi naman siya awkward but more of kaba. ‘Tama ba ’to?”
When asked kung humuhugot na siya ng emosyon sa very recent loss niya...
“At the end of the day, I want to respect my grieving,” prangkang sagot niya. “I don’t want to pull out from that as of now kasi I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop ...baka iyak nang iyak.
“And ’yong [acting] mentor namin, she always reminds us to respect ourselves and be aware kung saan ka kumukuha ng emotions mo.”
As for Alden, hindi naman pala niya first time ma-meet si Alden sa kanilang look test.
“He was very gentleman, sobrang bait, sobrang humble.”
At wala naman palang dapat ipangamba ang mga selosang fans ng Asia’s Multimedia Star dahil very much taken na ang dalaga from Southern Leyte.
Kahit biglang nag-clam up sa mga personal na tanong, she still managed to say na two years na sila ng kanyang boyfriend at mabait daw ito.
