From the moment na sumali s’ya at naging finalist sa singing competition na Born To Be a Star sa TV5 way back in 2016, dala-dala na ni Janine ang last name n’yang Teñoso.
But now, the talented singer-songwriter has decided to drop it and just use her first name instead.
Ayon kay Janine, matagal na raw nilang plano na hindi na gamitin ang last name niya to make things simpler for everyone.
“Dropping my last name has long been a plan even before. Many people get it wrong, pronounce it wrong, or mistake me for another person,” the OST Princess told pikapika.ph via direct messaging.
Mas nagpo-focus daw kasi ang mga tao sa last name n’ya more than on her craft.
“Then they forget about all the music. I would like for people to remember me because of my music,” paliwanag n’ya.
Natanong din namin ang Viva Recording Artist kung nangangahulugan din ba na sa pagre-rebrand of sort niyang ito ay magsu-switch din s’ya o mag-e-explore ng ibang genre?
“Switching to a different genre? Let’s see,” sagot n’ya.
Naka-base daw kasi sa experiences n’ya ang mga isinusulat n’yang kanta kaya hindi umano n’ya masabi kung lilipat s’ya ng ibang music genre sa ngayon.
“But I’d like to think that the songs I’ve written and those I’ve been writing and releasing are always just about sharing my story and my truth during a specific timeline in my life,” Janine shared.
“I guess it’s definitely up to time or my future personal experiences on what type of song comes out next. But I’m sure whatever gets released will always be full of honesty, growth and passion for my craft,” she added.
At gaya ng dati, excited ang pop music performer sa posibilidad na maka-collab ang iba pang artists.
Kung mabibigyan nga raw ng chance, gusto n’ya maka-work ang former vocalist ng bandang IV of Spades na si Unique Salonga.
“I’ve always been a fan of Unique Salonga. I’d love to work with him, hopefully, soon. His writing always speaks to me,” aniya.
She added that she would also love to do some collaborations with female artists such as Shanne Dandan and DENȲ.
“I’d love to write a song with my label mates as well, Shanne Dandan and an artist under Waybettr, DENȲ. I just love when women do creative things together,” she shared.
Nang matanong naman kung may bago bang aabangan ba ang mga fans mula sa kanya, she said, “Yes. Expect a single this coming month. And possibly, an EP [extended play] soon.”
