Xia Vigor is on cloud nine after being showered with opportunities under Viva recently. From being one of the stars of the upcoming horror film Nanay, Tatay to headlining the pilot season of the upcoming Viva Artists Agency (VAA) project VAA Shorts Presents titled He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, she is ready to conquer the screens as a Rising Teen Multimedia Star.
Best known for her roles in the movies Sunny, Wedding Dress, Itutumba Ka Ng Tatay Ko, and the 2019 blockbuster Miracle in Cell No. 7, Xia is filled with excitement that she gets to showcase more of her talents under Viva.
“It feels so great kasi I’m just looking forward to everything and I’m very excited po sa mga mangyayari pa and I’m really looking forward din na mapanood ng mga tao ’yong Nanay, Tatay and mapakinggan nila ’yong song ko po with Viva Records and ’yong TikTok shorts po so sobrang excited na marami pong mapapanood ’yong mga tao and, hopefully, magustuhan po nila,” the young actress told pikapika.ph in an exclusive interview last Wednesday, October 23.
HER HORROR SIDE
One of the several projects Xia is excited about is Nanay, Tatay. Set to premiere on October 30 in SM Cinema’s Sine Sindak Film Festival, the movie centers around three siblings adopted into a small family. Unbeknownst to the kids, the family has haunted secrets and a scary past lurking among them.
In the movie, she plays Olive, the middle child among the three siblings, and she teases that lots of plot twists will happen once moviegoers get to watch Nanay, Tatay.
“Marami pong exciting na mangyayari [sa movie na ’to] na kakaiba talaga. Hindi talaga parang normal na horror movie and sana po magulat ’yong mga tao sa mga plot twist na mangyayari and this is our Halloween treat po talaga,” she said.
Xia is joined by a talented cast in Nanay, Tatay, namely Aubrey Caraan, Heart Ryan, Andrea del Rosario, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Elia Ilano. For the young actress, she is happy to have worked with her co-stars in the film.
“I’m very happy po to work with Tita Andrea ulit and Tito Jeffrey kasi nakawork ko na po sila before,” she said. “And then ’yong mga iba ko pa pong co-stars. Kasi si Ate Heart at si Ate Aubrey, nakawork ko po sila sa Sunny pero wala po kaming chance to be in one frame together so working with them is very happy.”
“I really enjoyed being on set and doing a horror film kasi iba siya sa mga drama, iba ’yong setting, iba ’yong feels. Parang creepy feeling ka talaga ’pag nasa set ka,” she said.
With supporters and moviegoers being used to Xia doing acting in the realm of drama and comedy, the Viva star hopes they get to see a different side of her once they watch Nanay, Tatay.
“Triny ko po talaga ’yong best ko mapaghandaan ’yong role na ’to with ’yong facial expressions ko, how I use my eyes or the way I deliver kasi batang hamog po ako dito so inaral ko talaga ’yong pagsasalita ko dito na mas matigas, ’yong parang batang hamog po,” she said.
“And I’m just looking forward po kung ano ’yong masasabi ng mga tao and I’m just happy to work with everyone onset. It was a very fun environment po talaga,” she added.
A REVELATION OF FEELINGS
Apart from going out of her comfort zones to try other genres of acting, Xia also made a return to singing with her newest single “Aminin,” which was released last October 18 under Viva Records.
This isn’t the first time Xia has released music. It could be recalled that she sang for the official soundtracks of some of her movies, including the singles “Tag-Araw” with Bela Padilla for Miracle in Cell No. 7 and “Gusto Mo Ako” for Itutumba Ka Ng Tatay Ko.
Xia is beyond thankful for Viva Records for giving her another opportunity to release a single, this time something different as it is about confessing your romantic feelings to the person you have loved for a long time.
“Kakaiba siya sa mga kinakanta ko dahil kilig po ’yong side nung song na ’to and I’m very happy po talaga to work with Viva Records again kasi ang tagal na po nung last na recording ko with them and sana po i-stream ng mga tao, sa lahat ng streaming platforms,” she said.
“It’s a song for teenagers talaga na pangcrush, makakarelate ka talaga [if you want to] reveal something sa crush mo,” she added.
BRINGING KILIG
Apart from gearing towards the aforementioned horror genre, Xia is also venturing into doing romantic acting as she is set to star in VAA’s newest projects, VAA Shorts Presents, where she will headline its pilot season called He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not alongside Charles Law and Sophie Champ.
“First time ko po gumawa ng parang nakakakilig na series so excited po ako makita sa reaction ng mga tao, kung ano po sa tingin nila sa gaanong side ng projects na magagawa ko ngayon,” she said.
At first, Xia found it a challenge to do a project that is geared towards romance and love, but easily found comfort in his scene partner Charles, who is also her friend in real life.
“Comfortable po kasi ako kay Charles dahil friend ko po siya pero siguro po dahil hindi po ako sanay na gumawa ng ganon, medyo nag-a-adjust pa talaga ako dahil feeling ko parang bata pa rin ako and I think it’s really something new for me, ’yong ganoong klaseng role and sana po nagawa ko siya ng maganda at sana po maraming kiligin,” she said.
AN EMPOWERING XIA
With these plethora of opportunities surrounding her at the moment, Xia said she wants to do more and one of things she wants to tick in her acting bucket list is to do an action film that is aimed at empowering women and their abilities.
Deeply inspired after watching the movie Hanna, which starred Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan, the actress believes action would be one of the perfect genres for her because she can represent women as strong and empowered.
“Gusto ko pong ma-try gumawa ng mga action movies kasi ’yon po ’yong mga hilig ko din,” she said. “Kung alam niyo po ’yong movie na Hanna, parang may teenage girl po doon na lumalaban siya. It shows like mga empowered women and I think it’s a really good kind of movie po talaga na makapagrepresent din po ng ganoon para sa kakayahan ng mga babae.”
And we are looking forward to that and more opportunities for you, Xia. Good luck, our Rising Teen Multimedia Star!
