Enchong Dee calls out his fellow Kapamilya celebrities who are neuteal about the ABS-CBN shut down issue!

Enchong Dee was one of many Kapamilya celebrities who participated in a noise barrage with ABS-CBN employees and supporters last Saturday, July 18. He joined with them in solidarity to voice their opposition towards Congress' decision to deny the media giant of a franchise.

During the event, actress Angel Locsin made a speech, specifically calling out her fellow Kapamilya celebrities who remain silent amidst the network's franchise denial issue.

“Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang di nagsasalita, ano? May network pa ba kayo? Wala na! Wala na kayong network, kahit magpa-cute kayo diyan sa IG, mag-send kayo ng mga sad face!" Angel shouted to the people in attendance. "Hindi niyo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho niyo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat!"

The next day, on Twitter, Enchong talked about the neutrality of some of his Kapamilya colleagues.

“Let me address the argument of neutrality dear colleagues. I’m shining a light on your stand of neutrality with all due respect... you cannot say you are neutral and yet accept millions of pesos during a campaign period,” the actor wrote.

Musician Jim Paredes replied to Enchong's tweet, saying that the artists should simply admit that they are scared instead of standing with neutrality.

"There is nothing wrong if instead of invoking neutrality, they just say they are scared," Paredes wrote. "EVERYONE is afraid. Some like to stay scared and helpless. Some feel the fear but do what they think they should regardless."

It could be recalled last May 5 that ABS-CBN stopped its television and radio operations after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered a cease and desist towards the network, following the expiration of their franchise on May 4.

On July 10, a majority of the House committee on legislative franchises rejected ABS-CBN to be given a new franchise, forcing the network relieve some of their 11,000 employees of a job, including veteran broadcast journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon and Rated K host Korina Sanchez-Roxas.
