“I used to be bullied before… Sinasadya nilang i-left out ako, i-OP [out-of-place] ako. That happened since I was Grade 5 hanggang nag-pandemic na, until I transferred school,” pagre-recall ni Ashley.
Kaya naman dahil sa pelikula ay na-fulfill umano ang sense of belongingness na hinahanap-hanap n’ya na hindi n’ya na-experience before habang nag-aaral.
“So, filming Sunny, I feel like it healed the inner child in me na I got to experience having a barkada and really experience ng ginagawa ng barkada,” lahad ng daughter ni Joko Diaz.
At nang makausap namin s’ya more intimately, natanong namin kung ano ang nakikita n’yang dahilan kung bakit s’ya nile-left out ng kanyang mga dating kaklase.
“Kasi po the school I was in before, it is a very conservative Catholic school. I guess the idea of having my dad as an actor and siguro ’yong image n’ya rin as an actor kasi, ’di ba, if you think of my dad, ‘Ay kontrabida. Matapang.’ Ganyan,” paliwang ni Ashley.
And because of that, baka kontrabida rin daw kasi ang tingin sa kanya ng schoolmates n’ya noon.
“Maybe they think of me that way. And also kasi, tanggap ko naman na meron akong face [angle] na medyo matapang ’yong feature. So, I guess I don’t look as approachable as people would like me to appear,” she shared.
Pero naka-move on na raw s’ya mula sa sitwasyong iyon dahil may friends na s’ya ngayon.
“But I got over it. Ngayon I have friends na. I think it matters talaga kung sino ’yong people around you,” aniya.
“I find the people in showbiz more welcoming than the people in my past school before. And because of those people, no matter how hard it was for me before, it really made me grow,” saad ni Ashley.
“This film really made me realize a lot of things simula sa production mismo and after the production, when we were watching the trailer, and ’yong dina-dub na namin [ang ilang parts],” sabi ng aktres.
“I got to watch the snippet of the film, tapos especially nu’ng nag-record na kami ng OST, sabi ko, ‘Ang ganda ng pelikulang ito.’ Kasi ang tagal namin itong ginawa, almost a year,” pagtatapos ni Ashley.
Anyway, kasama ni Ashley sa movie’ng Sunny sina Sunshine Dizon, Candy Pangilinan, Vina Morales, Tanya Garcia, Ana Roces, Angelu de Leon, Katya Santos, Aubrey Caraan, Abby Bautista, Heaven Peralejo, Bea Binene, and more.
Mapapanood ang Sunny starting April 10 in cinemas nationwide.
