In the middle of celebrating the success for the erotic-drama film Just A Stranger last night, September 3, at the Draft Restaurant & Brewery in Ayala Malls the 30th in Pasig City, lead stars Anne Curtis and Marco Gumabao appealed to film pirates to stop pirating films and spreading them through illegal means. This was after the reported incident of the Star Cinema film Hello, Love, Goodbye being shown in provincial buses and streamed online.

“I really pray that the people who do this, they [would] really have a conscience [that says] ‘Huwag na, huwag na.’” Curtis said. “It’s really horrible. And you could go to prison. Is it really worth it? Is it really worth all of that?”

For Curtis, film piracy takes away all the hard work of people from the Philippine film industry.

“You’re just going to make a really horrible copy, and people who get to watch that horrible copy don’t fully appreciate the film and the hard work the whole team put into kasi hindi maganda ’yong kopya, hindi ma-appreciate ’yong kagandahan ng pelikula.”

Curtis also appeals to people who wait for a pirated copy to stop watching such, saying that the reason why illegal copies get spread is that some people support such activity.
