On Saturday night, July 18, Kapamilya employees and artists gathered together for a noise barrage outside the ABS-CBN compound to voice their opposition towards Congress' decision to deny the media giant a franchise, thus forcing most workers to be out of a job.
During the event, Kapamilya celebrity Angel Locsin made a speech, specifically chiding her fellow ABS-CBN artists who have zipped their lips when the franchise denial issue ensued.
"Galit na galit ako!" she shouted after asking the attendees how they felt. "Bakit? Ilang buwan tayong tinorture. [...] 'Yong mga mahal nating nagtatrabaho, nagsisiiyakan kagabi. Nawalan ng trabaho!"
After voicing out her disgust over Congress saying that they should just sell the company and her anger over employees losing their jobs, Angel then took a swipe at her fellow ABS-CBN stars who stayed silent.
"Kapag hindi tayo nagsalita, kinampihan natin ang mali!" Angel said about her duty as an artist in this time.
“Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang di nagsasalita, Ano? May network pa ba kayo? Wala na! Wala na kayong network, kahit magpa-cute kayo diyan sa IG, mag-send kayo ng mga sad face! ... Hindi niyo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho niyo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat!" she also shouted.
Angel is not the only celebrity who attended the noise barrage. Jake Cuenca, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Enchong Dee, Mylene Dizon, among others, also joined in the fray.
