Multi-award winning actor Aga Muhlach revealed to the entertainment press that he is presently exchanging text messages with Korean actor Ryu Seung Ryong, the original lead star of Miracle in Cell No. 7.
The two prime actor’s communication began after the release of the Philippine adaptation’s teaser mid November. The teaser instantly made waves online and has now recorded 20 million views across all social media platforms .
Aga’s fans and celebrity friends were raving about it non-stop.
But it turned out the teaser didn’t only catch the attention of Pinoy online audiences, but it was also noticed by Ryu Seung Ryong, who played as Lee Yong Gu in the South Korean hit version.
The Korean star even shared the Viva Films ṭeaser on his Instagram account, where he said he was “touched” to know that there will be a Philippine remake.
Aga, during the Miracle in Cell No.7 press conference last Friday, December 6, was asked about his reaction regarding Ryu Seung’s gesture. That’s when Aga revealed that he and Ryu and actually “textemates” these days.
“As a matter of fact, we texted each other. Seriously, we’re kind of in constant communication now.
“As a matter of fact, we’re inviting him for the premiere and he’s just fixing his schedules kasi he’s also busy now.”
He then narrated how his conversation went with Ryu Seung Ryong and revealed that the Korean actor really feels honored to be invited in his premiere night on December 16.
“Sinabi niya sa akin na ‘it’s really an honor to be invited to your premiere and I can’t wait to see your movie.’”
Aga continued, “I even told him, 'You were an inspiration.' Kasi ’yong pelikula niya is not just him or the stars, but ’yong istorya, father and daughter, hardened criminals, ’yong nangyari sa preso, how it changes people, how it changed everyone.
"So, tamang-tama for the festival. Parang sabi ko what more can I ask for?”
In the same presscon, Aga also confirmed that the Philippine adaptation will have an international screening in Korea and that Ryu Seung Ryong promised to help him promote the film.
“Sinabi niya pa na ‘I’m gonna help you promote your film, even in Korea.’”
Viva Films’ Miracle in Cell No.7–which is Rated G and Graded A—is showing on Christmas Day as an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2019.
